George L. Giddens, son of Oscar Giddens and Florence Muir, was named for his grandfather, George Lullen Giddens. The younger George L. Giddens was born December 17th, 1930 in Key West, Florida. He is one of four siblings. He was a 9 year veteran of the US Navy during the Korean War, serving on 10 vessels and most notably was on the U.S.S. Cochino when it sank in the North Sea in August 1949. I didn't know George. He passed away last June. His grandfather, the elder George L. Giddens, was my great-great-grandfather.
