Friday's Photo: Abb Wimberly

This photo, found in the collection of Marguerite Cook Clark, is of a young Abb Wimberly. As most of the images in this collection were taken in Northwest Louisiana, it is assumed that this photo was as well. 

To date this card, I looked for known subjects in Marguerite Cook Clark's collection with similar cabinet cards. The four known subjects are pictured below; Joseph Allen Woodard, born in 1883; Jake Cook, born in 1878; Maggie Martin (Marguerite's mother), born in 1887; and George Moore, born in 1884. 

The ages of each subject in the photos were estimated, and it appears that the photos were taken in the 1890s or early 1900s. 

A search of  Wimberly Family History compiled by Vera Meek Wimberly revealed one possible candidate, James Abner Wimberly, born on 14 March 1881. James Abner was the son of Jesse Wimberly and Jane Elizabeth Crumpton. He married Callie Mae Wimberly, and they had no children.

Friday's Photo: Joe Mangham Wimberly of Bienville Parish

Today's photo comes from the collection of Mary Martin Smith. The "mc collection" seen on the label indicates that Mary Martin Smith copied the original that was found in the Marguerite Cook Clark collection. However, I did not see the exact photo when scanning photos in the Marguerite Cook Clark collection. I found only the faded photo seen below leading me to the conclusion that there is still more to see. 

Did Joe Mangham Wimberly have a nickname? On this
photo, there is a word following her name in quotation marks. 

Joe Mangham was the daughter of James Green Mangham and Julia Frances Murph. She was a graduate of Female College in Mansfield, Louisiana, and taught school for a short period. She married Andrew Lawson Wimberly, child of John Lawson Wimberly and Alice Martha Bryan. 

Andrew and Joe had eight children:

Jim Green Wimberly

Frank Lee Wimberly

Hallie Wimberly

Linda May Wimberly

Sarah Alice Wimberly

Vashti Wimberly

Julia Fannie Wimberly

Joe, Andrew, and their children are buried in the Wimberly Cemetery.

From the Files of Marguerite Cook Clark: Sawyer Robert Wimberly - Bienville Parish, Louisiana

Sawyer Robert Wimberly was the second child of John Lawson Wimberly and Julia Frances "Fannie" Murph. He was born on 16 January 1888 in Ringgold, Bienville Parish, Louisiana. He married Minnie Lee Pate. Sawyer was a farmer and a lifelong resident of Bienville Parish. He and his wife had nine children and are buried in the Wimberly Cemetery.

Friday's Photo: The Wimberly Family of Bienville Parish, Louisiana

This photo, from the Frye family collection, was labeled "The Wimberly Family."I looked through the Wimberly Family History compiled by Vera Meek Wimberly hoping to find this photo with the pictures labeled but did not. However, did see some really interesting photos in the book. If you are in the Bienville area, I think they have this book at the library in Ringgold.

I think this might be Joseph W. Cook, husband of
Josie Bryan Cook who is the daughter of Sarah Wimberly
Bryan. If this is Joseph, which woman is Josie?
